Katherine Heigl reveals her experiences as a child in a 'white bubble' affected the way she parented her adopted family of multiracial origins. In an interview, she said recent interview that, in terms of skin color there is no difference. However, after talking to her sister who is adopted in South Korea she realized just the different ways society treats people of different races. Meg was asked whether her treatment was different while they were together with their parents or when they went alone. Meg replied, "Oh yeah, always!" Heigl admitted to her parents that this made her realize how naive she had been. Her anger grew by the incident, and decided to channel her anger into assist her daughters who were adopted by her. Heigl, who has been engaged to Josh Kelley for 13 years, have a son, Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr. Their child Nancy Leigh was adopted from South Korea by the couple in 2009. Adalaide is a Black 8-year old girl that was adopted by the couple in 2012.
